Midcoast Youth Theater presents it second show of the summer season, Rodger & Hammerstein's CAROUSEL.

Have you ever made a decision that had you desperate to repair the repercussions? Have you ever been in love and had a difficult time communicating? Come see extraordinary talent tell a timeless story of love and tragedy set in our very own state of Maine.

In a Maine coastal village toward the end of the 19th century, the swaggering, carefree carnival barker, Billy Bigelow, captivates and marries the naive millworker, Julie Jordan. Billy loses his job just as he learns that Julie is pregnant and, desperately intent upon providing a decent life for his family, he is coerced into being an accomplice to a robbery and, caught in the act, winds up dying.

Billy is allowed to return to earth for one day fifteen years later, and he encounters the daughter he never knew. She is a lonely, friendless teenager, her father's reputation as a thief and bully having haunted her throughout her young life.

How Billy instills in both the child and her mother a sense of hope and dignity is a dramatic testimony to the power of love. It's easy to understand why, of all the shows they created, CAROUSEL was Rodgers & Hammerstein's personal favorite.

You'll find a wonderfully talented collection of actors, dancers, and a 10-piece orchestra to carry you through this tale of hope and redemption.

Shows are Thursday July 27th and Friday July 28th at 7:00 PM and Saturday July 29th at 2:00 PM.  All performances at the Orion Theater in Topsham at 66 Republic Avenue.

Tickets available at the door or online here.

MYT Summer Show Season Begins July 13th

Midcoast Youth Theater is opening its summer season with a fantastic double feature.

The show opens with a production of EI EI Oops, presented by our K-2 actors. We go on a trip to see Farmer MacDonald and the whole barnyard of singing animals! But wait! Something's wrong with Madame Cow... she just can't moo! Join the fun as the animals all do their part to save the day! The show runs about 45 minutes and will be followed by a brief intermission.

The second feature is James & the Giant Peach Jr,
a delightfully offbeat adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl adventure, where a boy and his insect friends take an amazing journey across the ocean.

Shows are Thursday July 13th and Friday July 14th at 6:30 PM and Saturday July 15th at 2:00 PM in a double feature.  All performances at the Orion Theater in Topsham at 66 Republic Avenue.

Tickets available at the door or online here.
