Call for Directors

We are seeking applications from experienced directors interested in leading production teams for two all-ages Musicals. The first will run December 13-16, 2018 and the second will run May 2-6, 2019.
MYT is a non-profit organization providing equal opportunities for all children to perform in full length musicals. We are an inclusive theater group, casting all children who audition, regardless of experience, and providing financial scholarships for those who need it. We choose shows with large expandable ensembles to accommodate large groups. Show choice has not yet been made for either show.
Our two annual family shows have grown over the last several years from 75-120 performers of varying age, experience and skill levels. More than half of the cast will be students. The primary focus of MYT is to create opportunity for actors to learn and grow, and to have fun while doing it. The Director receives a stipend and works closely with a Music Director, Choreographer, Costumer, Producer, Stage Manager, and parent volunteers. All production staff must be able to support the MYT mission of creating a nurturing theater experience for young people, and be able to work well with others. Directors need good leadership and team-building skills.
Rehearsals for both shows will run for 10 weeks prior to opening and will be held in Topsham at the Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 6-9 PM and Saturday 1-4 PM.
To submit an application please email a Resume and answers to the following questions to
1. Please provide a brief narrative of your theater background.
2. Please list the last three shows you directed with the performance dates, the size of the cast, the age-range of the cast and the name of the organization or school that produced the show.
3. Please say a few words about your people skills. MYT depends on many volunteers and their willingness to show up depends in part on the atmosphere of camaraderie and the degree of support they receive from the production crew in general and the director in particular.
4. Please list one or two shows that you would be interested in directing for MYT for a large, all-ages cast.
Please email your answers to these questions and resume to
