Attendance / Conduct policy

Midcoast Youth Theater wants all participants to benefit from the theatre sessions as fully as possible and have a meaningful and enjoyable arts experience.

We are unable to provide prolonged one-on-one attention to actors or administer medication.

Due to the structure and staffing of our theater shows, parents are urged to carefully consider their child(ren)’s interest in group activities, capacity for following directions, and demonstrating age-appropriate self-regulation before registering.

In the event of seriously disruptive behavior, a child will receive a verbal warning. If the conduct continues, a parent will be notified and given an opportunity to help resolve the issue. If disruptive behavior persists, the child may be withdrawn from the show at the discretion of the director and staff. No refunds will be given for withdrawals under these circumstances.

Attendance:

.

Because of the shortened rehearsal schedule, every day of attendance is critical to a successful performance and to the experience of all involved.

.

.

Due to this condensed schedule, any child who misses more than one day

may be removed from certain scenes/songs.

 .

The final decision is at the discretion of the director.

Avery holds a B.A. in Theater Studies, a B.S. in Business Management from Elon University, and a Master’s in Accounting from Boston College. She is now a mom of 4 in Holliston, Massachusetts. Kelly Patton2.jpg

Kelly Patton  Director Kelly Patton, born and raised in Florida, grew up loving the ocean almost as much as she loves dancing, laughing, and creating a safe place where children can freely express themselves and let their lights shine bright. After years of working in environmental education, she moved her family down to Costa Rica where she raised her kids in the jungle right next to the beach. She founded Jungle Arts and Dance in 2009 to provide children opportunities to play and express themselves through dance and drama. Along with her team, they produced shows such as Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Footloose, A Chorus Line, Annie Jr, 101 Dalmatians, and several dance showcases. The company grew to include hundreds of children, teens and adults over the years. After 12 years of living abroad, it was time for some fresh air. Kelly and her two children uprooted and moved to Maine in 2021. She was the Musical Theater Director and Choreographer for the Gorham Arts Alliance (2024) and Casco Bay High School in Portland (2021-2024) producing Mamma Mia, Young Frankenstein, and Willy Wonka. She loves getting to know the great state of Maine and believes the most important thing we can do as humans is to love ourselves, love one another, love the earth, and spread kindness throughout our homes, community, and the world. Kelly joined MYT this past fall bringing you The Jungle Book and she is excited to return to the ocean with you for Finding Nemo!
