Step into a world of castles, courage, and adventure!

Based on Mary Pope Osborne’s beloved Magic Tree House book series, The Knight at Dawn KIDS follows curious siblings Jack and Annie as they journey back to medieval times. When the magic tree house transports them into the pages of a book about knights and castles, they find themselves face-to-face with royal banquets, secret passages, and a mysterious Black Knight.

Together, Jack and Annie must use their courage, imagination, and quick thinking to solve riddles of chivalry and find their way home. Filled with heart, humor, and a dash of magic, this enchanting musical reminds us that bravery and kindness are the true marks of a hero.

Important Show Information

We’re thrilled to announce Magic Tree House: The Knights at Dawn Kids—

our next show for actors in Kindergarten through 6th grade!

For this show, casting will be based on first come, first serve registration rather than audition selection.

The first 30 actors to register are guaranteed a spot in the show, and a waitlist will open once we’ve reached capacity.

Similar to our summer sessions, auditions will be held with the registered cast of 30 to determine roles.

Audition date is set for January 18th - time & location TBD

Please note: the $100 Troupe Fee is due in full at the time of registration.

· A sibling discount of $20 is available for additional registrations.

Rehearsals will mostly take place at the Midcoast Presbyterian Church in Topsham on Wed nights from 5:30-7:00pm & on Sunday afternoons from 1-3pm, beginning Feb 11th.

A more detailed, day-to-day rehearsal schedule will be provided after casting and

throughout the rehearsal process.

Tech week will take place at the Crooker Theater starting April 3rd with shows on April 9th-12th.

Registration information:

The number of participants for The Knights at Dawn will be limited to 30 actors
A waitlist will be available once the show reaches full capacity.
The Troupe Fee of $100 must be paid in full at the time of registration.
A sibling discount of $20 is available for additional registrations.
In the event of a cancellation, refunds will be issued, less $50, until 5 days prior to the first day of the rehearsal. Please refer to our refund policy below for more information.

Refund & Policies

Attendance / Conduct policy

Midcoast Youth Theater wants all participants to benefit from the theatre sessions as fully as possible and have a meaningful and enjoyable arts experience.

We are unable to provide prolonged one-on-one attention to actors or administer medication.

Due to the structure and staffing of our theater shows, parents are urged to carefully consider their child(ren)’s interest in group activities, capacity for following directions, and demonstrating age-appropriate self-regulation before registering.

In the event of seriously disruptive behavior, a child will receive a verbal warning. If the conduct continues, a parent will be notified and given an opportunity to help resolve the issue. If disruptive behavior persists, the child may be withdrawn from the show at the discretion of the director and staff. No refunds will be given for withdrawals under these circumstances.

Because of the shortened rehearsal schedule, every rehearsal is critical to a successful performance.

Due to this condensed schedule, any child who misses multiple rehearsals

may be removed from certain scenes/songs.

Jesica Garrou Director Jesica Garrou (she/her) is thrilled to finally have a schedule that aligns so she can direct with MYT. She founded Royal River Community Players in 2015 and stepped away in 2020 to pursue professional theatre in NYC. The chance to work with all ages of actors in her home state has been calling to her for awhile! When she is not directing and producing in NYC or here in Maine, she can be found trying to keep up with her teenager. www.jesicagarrou.com

Courtney Babbidge Music Director Courtney is a musician who composes, arranges, directs and teaches in Midcoast Maine. He’s been music directing since 2008 and has done over 100 different shows. When not doing music projects, Courtney enjoys rockhounding, improv comedy and building/performing puppets.

Christina Longstreeth Choreographer Christina is excited to return to MYT! She grew up dancing, choregraphing and performing in western Massachusetts, making her professional debut with Barrington Stage Company in 2013. Christina has choreographed and performed with companies from Bar Harbor to Portland, most recently choreographing Honk! for Studio Theater of Bath, and Willy Wonka for MYT. Additionally, she has choreographed for show choirs, contemporary ballet companies, and film projects across the sate. Christina currently teaches musical theater dance at both Studio Theatre of Bath and The Moving Company.

Rachel Morris Stage Manager Rachel has a BFA in Theater Performance from Hofstra University, with minors in Fine Arts and Disability Studies. Rachel has directed summer shows with MYT for three years and is so thrilled to be back for more! She has previously directed alongside Avery Himes for Beauty & the Beast, Matilda, Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland and Aristocats. Rachel’s directing credits include Little Shop of Horrors, Junie B. Jones, Seussical, Cinderella, Annie, and MYT’s Teen Theater Masterclass.

Clair Siggins Set build & design Clair has been part of the MYT family since 2014, and this marks around his 30th show with us! Over the past nine years, he’s played a huge role in bringing our productions to life—designing, building, or helping out with sets for most of our shows. He’s also lent a hand with sound and lighting along the way.
