We’re excited to welcome performers of all ages to audition for our upcoming production! This year, we’re offering two great audition options to fit a variety of schedules and interests.
Our standard MYT auditions are open to anyone interested in being considered for a primary role or the main ensemble. There is a $100 registration fee for those selected through the audition process. Registration payment or scholarship requests will be due at the first rehearsal.
We’re also thrilled to introduce our “Isle Family” audition track—perfect for families or friend groups who want to share the stage with a smaller time commitment. Isle Family participants will perform in our energetic opening scene set on the Isle of the Lost and be featured in the number “Rotten to the Core.” After that song, they are free to leave during tech week and on show nights.
There will be fewer rehearsals for this group making it a great option for younger performers or anyone with a limited schedule. The reduced registration fee of $50 per person or scholarship request is due
at the first rehearsal.
Please note that in the case of a large number of auditionees, some actors may be placed in the “Isle Family” group only, in an effort to keep our cast size safe and manageable.

Audition information
There is no pre-registration for auditions. Everyone should plan to arrive at the start time—Friday Sept 26th at 6:30pm or Saturday 27th at 1:00pm. Once you’ve finished your audition (and any side reading or dance portion, if you’re called for those), you’ll be free to head out.
SINGING: Actors may choose to audition either in a group or with a solo song.

Group singing auditions
Option 1: Isle Family Ensemble (Limited Commitment)
· Rehearsals: Select Saturdays only, until Tech Week
· Stage Time: Appears in “Rotten to the Core” number and Isle of the Lost opening scene
· Audition Requirements: Group singing audition only (no solo or dance)
· Best For: Performers who want a lighter schedule
As a group, we will learn a selection of "Rotten to the Core" together. If you only want to be considered for the Isle Family, you may leave the audition after the group singing is complete.

Option 2: Main Cast Ensemble (Moderate Commitment)
· Rehearsals: Most Saturdays, plus some Mondays & Tuesdays
· Stage Time: Featured as dancers and Auradonians throughout the show
· Audition Requirements:
*Solo song (16–32 bars) - any song will do, including selection from Rotten to the Core
*Dance audition (stay after singing audition)
· Best For: Performers who want to dance, sing, and be actively involved in multiple scenes
Solo singing auditions:
Option 3: Leads / Speaking & Singing Roles (Full Commitment)
· Rehearsals: Frequent rehearsals on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays (as called)
· Stage Time: Lead characters with solos, dialogue, and extended stage presence
· Audition Requirements:
*Solo song (16–32 bars)
*Dance audition (stay after singing audition)
*Side reading auditions (stay after singing audition)
· Best For: Performers ready for a larger role with more responsibility and rehearsal time
All actors who want to be considered for a role with a solo or main ensemble must prepare a 16 bar/30 second cut of a song of their choosing. The song does not need to be from Descendants, but if you are trying for a specific role, we recommend preparing a song which that character sings or a song with similar content. Everyone will be considered for every role regardless of song choice.
.
Auditionees can bring sheet music for our pianist Courtney to play or sing with a karaoke track (we'll have a bluetooth speaker there). Acapella auditions are accepted but not encouraged.
.
SIDE READING: We will have sides prepared for reading at the audition.
.
DANCE: All actors should wear clothes they can comfortably move in, and bring dance shoes if they have them.
DIGITAL AUDITIONS: Digital auditions are accepted upon request only. Please contact rachel.morris@midcoastyouththeater.org for more information.
