Unpaid Internship

We’re looking for a passionate, organized, and theater-loving individual that is 16 yrs old or older, to join our team as a Theater Education Assistant for our upcoming production of Jungle Book Kids.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the director to support our theater programs, help create a positive learning environment, and assist in bringing our productions to life — from first rehearsal to final curtain.

What You’ll Do:

Rehearsal Support: Help manage rehearsals, encourage focus, and maintain a productive, supportive atmosphere.

​.

Materials & Props: Help organize and prepare costumes, props, and other performance essentials.

​.

Actor Assistance: Offer guidance and encouragement to young actors as they build their performance skills.

​.

Production Help: Assist backstage during shows and support other elements of the production process.

 

What We’re Looking For:

​.

Theater Experience: Background in theater, stage management, or working with young performers preferred.

​.

Love for Working with Kids: Patience, enthusiasm, and a knack for inspiring young actors.

​.

Strong Communication: Comfortable working with directors, actors, and fellow team members.

​.

Team Spirit: Able to collaborate, adapt, and build positive relationships.

​.

Availability: Must be available on Sunday afternoons & Wednesday evenings from Sunday, Sept 14th to Sunday, Nov 9th + tech week/shows Nov 10-16th.

Age: Must be 16 yrs old or older.

Mandatory Abuse Prevention System Training: We will be requiring any assistant or staff to complete this free training course which consists of a 75mn online program resulting in a short quiz and a certificate of completion.

Backstage Crew

Now Seeking: Backstage Crew

Calling All Crew Volunteers!

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the backstage crew for our upcoming production of Lady Pirates of Captain Bree.

Being part of the crew is a fantastic way to learn what goes into creating a successful show behind the scenes. Under the guidance of our Stage Manager, Denise Siggins, crew members will:

*Assist with set changes

*Help actors with quick costume changes

*Keep props organized and ready to go

-Previous theater experience (onstage or backstage) is a plus.

-Must be 16 yrs or older

-Volunteers must be available for the full tech week and show weekend - from Tuesday, Oct 14th to Sunday, Oct 19th.

Important information

We’re thrilled to announce Jungle Book Kids—our next show for actors in Kindergarten through 6th grade!

​For this show, casting will be based on first come, first serve registration rather than audition selection.

The first 30 actors to register are guaranteed a spot in the show, and a waitlist will open once we’ve reached capacity.

Similar to our summer sessions, auditions will be held with the registered cast of 30 to determine roles.

Audition date is set for September 14th - time & location TBD

Please note: the $100 Troupe Fee is due in full at the time of registration.

· A sibling discount of $20 is available for additional registrations. 

Rehearsals will mostly take place at the Midcoast Prebyterian Church in Topsham on

Wed nights from 5:30-7:00pm & on Sundays afternoons, staring Sept 21st.

Tech week will take place at the Adaptive Outdoor Education Center Nov 10-13 from 5:30-7pm,

with shows on Nov 14-16th.

Registration information:
  • Due to the size of the venue, the number of actors for Jungle Book will be limited to 30 actors

  • A waitlist will be available once the show reaches full capacity.

  • The Troupe Fee of $100 must be paid in full at the time of registration.

  • A sibling discount of $20 is available for additional registrations.

  • In the event of a cancellation, refunds will be issued, less $50, until 5 days prior to the first day of the rehearsal. Please refer to our refund policy below for more information.

  • Scholarships are available for all MYT Theatre Sessions. Please contact our treasurer, Daniel Moore at daniel.moore@midcoastyouththeater.org for more information.

Attendance / Conduct policy

Midcoast Youth Theater wants all participants to benefit from the theatre sessions as fully as possible and have a meaningful and enjoyable arts experience.

 

We are unable to provide prolonged one-on-one attention to actors or administer medication.

 

Due to the structure and staffing of our theater shows, parents are urged to carefully consider their child(ren)’s interest in group activities, capacity for following directions, and demonstrating age-appropriate self-regulation before registering.

 

In the event of seriously disruptive behavior, a child will receive a verbal warning. If the conduct continues, a parent will be notified and given an opportunity to help resolve the issue. If disruptive behavior persists, the child may be withdrawn from the show at the discretion of the director and staff. No refunds will be given for withdrawals under these circumstances.

Because of the shortened rehearsal schedule, every rehearsal is critical to a successful performance.

.

Due to this condensed schedule, any child who misses multiple rehearsals

may be removed from certain scenes/songs.

 .

The final decision is at the discretion of the director.
