The Outsiders
.
directed by Bre Allard
This season, MYT ventures into powerful dramatic territory with The Outsiders, a gripping and heartfelt story that challenges our teenage actors to bring raw emotion and truth to the stage.
Step into the turbulent 1960s with The Outsiders, a gripping stage adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s groundbreaking novel about friendship, identity, and the fight to belong. In a world divided between the working-class “Greasers” and the privileged “Socs,” 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis struggles to make sense of loyalty, loss, and what it really means to be an outsider.
Filled with heart, emotional depth, and unforgettable characters, The Outsiders captures the timeless spirit of teenage rebellion and brotherhood. This powerful coming-of-age drama reminds us that no matter which side of town you’re from, we all share the same hopes, fears, and dreams.

Bre Allard Director Bre Allard has been directing for 15 years. Along with her husband and children, she has been involved with MYT for 8 years in various onstage and offstage roles. You may recall seeing her on the MYT stage as the Mayor's Wife in Seussical and most recently as Mrs. Beauregard in Wonka last May. This is the second show she is directing with MYT. Bre's daytime job is as a Literacy Instructional Coach at Lewiston Middle School and she has been a longtime fan of S.E. Hinton's book, The Outsiders. Bre is so excited to bring the play version of this classic story and its timeless, universal themes to MYT this March.

Angela Courchesney Stage Manager Angela Courchesney has done theater on and off for 15 years. She helped write plays with Foothills Arts and now has aspirations to get back in the theater world. She joined MYT last spring as part of the ensemble in Wonka. Angela is a high school Jobs for Maine Grads (JMG) teacher at Leavitt Area High School in Turner and soccer and track and field coach. She's looking forward to working backstage with the teens and keeping things orderly for set changes as stage manager.
