Director for Spring Youth Production (Grades K–6th or up to grade 8th)

Midcoast Youth Theater is seeking a Director for our upcoming April 2026 production featuring performers in grades K–6 or K-8.  We encourage applicants to suggest shows they are interested in directing, and we are open to discussing your preferences.

Qualifications:

• Experience directing children’s theater or working with youth (preferred)

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm for working with young performers

• Ability to foster an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere

Details:

• Production dates: April 9-12th 2026 at Crooker Theater in Brunswick

• Cast: Grades K–6 or K-8 depending on show title

• Compensation: Salary will be reflective of experience and expertise

 

Aspiring directors must work closely with their creative teams and parent volunteers. All creative team members must be able to support the MYT mission of creating a nurturing theater experience for young people and work effectively with others.

 .

Creative teams typically comprise a choreographer, set designer, customer, and musical director. MYT has a deep network in these areas to support our directors if they are looking to fill positions. The identification of sponsors, fundraising, and development of marketing materials for the show and show promotion are handled by MYT staff and the Board of Directors.
