There are many ways to be involved with Midcoast Youth Theater—whether as part of the creative team, through internships, volunteering, ushering, or by supporting MYT as a donor or sponsor. We’re always looking for ambassadors to help us bring great theater to the community!

Costume Designers

Assistant Stage Manager 
Unpaid Internship

Midcoast Youth Theater is looking for a passionate, organized, and theater-loving individual to join our team as Assistant Stage Manager for our upcoming production of Descendants, the musical.

This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with our Stage Manager, Danielle Siggins, and gain valuable experience in stage management—from first rehearsal to final curtain. Our goal is to mentor dedicated candidates so they’re ready to stage manage a future MYT production.​ All candidates must be 16yrs or older.

What You’ll Do:

As an ASM (assistant stage manager) you will work closely with our SM, Denise Siggins, learn the ins and outs of what it takes to become a successful Stage Manager.The end goal is to train serious candidates to eventually stage-manage an upcoming MYT show. We can also provide a proof of training completion and a certificate d ocumenting volunteer hours.

 

Rehearsal Support:

Help manage rehearsals, encourage focus, and maintain a productive, supportive atmosphere.

Materials & Props:

Help organize and prepare costumes, props, and other performance essentials.

 

Production Help:

Assist backstage during shows and support other elements of the production process.

What We’re Looking For:

Theater Experience:

Background in theater, stage crew, or working with young performers preferred.

Love for Working with Kids:
Patience, enthusiasm, and a knack for inspiring young actors.

 

Strong Communication:
Comfortable working with directors, actors, and fellow team members.

 

Team Spirit:

Able to collaborate, adapt, and build positive relationships.

 

Availability:
Must be available most Monday & Tuesday evenings and Saturday afternoons from October 20th until Jan 11th. Must especially be available on tech week, starting Jan 2nd until show weekend Jan 8-11th 2026.

Mandatory Abuse Prevention System Training:

We will be requiring any assistant or staff to complete this free training course which consists of

75mn online program resulting in a short quiz and a certificate of completion.

Theater Education Assistant

Unpaid Internship

We’re looking for a passionate, organized, and theater-loving individual that is 16 yrs old or older, to join our team as a Theater Education Assistant for our upcoming production of Descendants, the musical

In this role, you’ll work closely with the director to support our theater programs, help create a positive learning environment, and assist in bringing our productions to life — from first rehearsal to final curtain.  We will also provide a certificate documenting volunteer hours.

 

What You’ll Do:

Offer guidance and encouragement to young actors as they build their performance skills.
